When I do return to one I’ve laid down some time ago, I jump back a chapter from the bookmarked page to get a sense of where the plot and I were.

At least, from what I’ve read in both books … I’m stuck on page 160 in The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and have been for several years (I’ll nod to Joe Queenan again) yet should finish The Art of Racing in the Rain soon. One motorcycle. One NASCAR. There are parallels.
