That's one of the biggest detractions from the Kindle among book lovers - that it's not fun to curl up with by the fire, in a beach chair, or in bed before turning out the light. And it's one of the reasons I don't gravitate to it. In fact, whenever I think of getting a new book, I never think of downloading it on the Kindle. I want the real book in my hand - the pages to flip through - the smell and touch of it. So I guess I threw away the $300+ it cost me, but I wanted to experience the Kindle first hand. I wanted to get my reaction to it.

I agree with you that e-book lacks intimacy that traditional book provides with its pleasant smell and crisp pages. I do wonder if you feel comfortable when curling up with your Kindle? My idea of a peaceful day is still to curl up in my bed with my favourite book, not some kind of electronic gadget and I'm sure many book lovers out there feel the same too.
